1.  Buying luscious libations? Go for the big single container of juice or soda and use a cup instead of individuals.  Juice boxes, plastic bottles and soda cans all create waste somewhere down the line. If you must buy individual juice drinks buy aluminum cans.  Juice boxes are not recyclable and they stay in the earth for hundreds of years.Did you know that recycling 1 aluminum can save enough energy to power a TV for 3 hours? 2. Dishes; If you are in a jam, at least buy eco friendly dishes like Earthsave (Gelsons) or uncoated Chinette (Ralphs).Bought plastic plates already?  DOn't forget to recycle them even if they are dirty.  Tap off the food and put it in the bin. 3. Glassware. Of course, try to go for reusable first. That can be expensive so, be creative, a set of 12 jelly jars (Smart and Final) are an inexpensive way to load up on glasses.  Your guest will think they look fun too and be impressed that you are making an effort to go green.  If you can't go all reusable at least buy soft plastic cups that can be recycled and remind your guests to put it in the bin when they are finished. 4. Can't find enough cloth napkins? $1.00 set of 3 hankies  (99 cent store)works great. Still having trouble, buy napkins made from recycled paper like Seventh Generation (Gelsons) This way you'll be closing the recycling loop. 5. Cleaning up can be a chore. We love Citrasolve and Simple Green Lemon scent.  Both are eco friendly, cut grease, clean up and smell great.<6. Did your food come in aluminum containers or were kept warm with tin foil? Put it in the bin! Even if you have some food or grease left on the trays, you can still recycle it.  Metal (aluminum) gets melted down when it's recycled so even a baked on pizza can't stay on too long. When in doubt, put it in the bin! Recycling centers will easily take out rubbish from the bins.  However, anything that goes in a trash can goes right into the ground forever. Did you know that the average American recycles only 20% of all recyclables? Here in LA, we can keep 85% of our waste out of the trash by recycling and composting. 7. Party favors are great but where will they be in 3 days? Will it break or get boring  and end up in the trash? One fun, well made gift will bring hours more of enjoyment than a junky throw away toy.  Think better, not more. Sometimes it's  easier to buy the cheapest thing on the shelf and be done with it.  For an extra couple of minutes and a small  initial investment isn't it worth it to go green?  Your actions now can change the future of our environment.   How hard is it to throw a load of dishes in the dishwasher when you know you are keeping them out of the Earth?
