PE and Yard Supervision/Tribes

With the national concern for childhood inactivity and obesity, high quality physical education programs are as essential as academic programs. Physical activity is good not only for the heart, but also for the brain, feeding it glucose and oxygen, and increasing nerve connections, all of which makes it easier for children of all ages to learn. Numerous studies show that children who exercise do better in school. Studies suggest that such physical activity as running, jumping, and aerobic game playing have a definite impact of children's frontal lobe-a primary brain area for mental concentration, planning, and decision making. Children who engage in daily physical education show superior motor fitness, academic performance, and attitude toward school as compared to their counterparts who do not have physical education.

Meet our Team

Jonah Rampe

Coach Jonah PE Coach

A Pali Instructor since 2005, Jonah has been a leader in developing Pali's PE program. As a PE instructor, Jonah has the unique ability of combining TRIBES into the development of games and exercise learning skills.

Thanks to the continual support of PEP, Coach Jonah meets weekly with each class to introduce and develop game knowledge and the physical skills that are appropriate for each grade level. Students also prepare for the state testing that is given each year.

In PE, students are introduced to different organized sports as well as basic group and individual yard games with the goal of helping students to develop the skills to navigate at recess on the Play Yard.

On the yard, Jonah works with TRIBES Instructor Coach Kris in yard supervision and running monthly yard tournaments.
